The faculty and staff at Saint Kilian Parish School is committed to providing a quality Catholic education to all of our students, but with that comes a significant operational expense. In order to meet these costs, every Catholic school in the Diocese of Pittsburgh must follow the same funding model: 60% Tuition/Fees, 25% Parish Subsidy, 10% Fundraising, and 5% Other Sources (Diocesan Subsidy, grants, etc.)
This Diocesan model necessitates that student families are responsible for both the Tuition/Fees and Fundraising portions.
It is a fact that fundraising will always be a part of operating any Catholic school. Knowing that fundraising has always been an area of contention, Saint Kilian Parish School would like to approach fundraising as a behavioral change rather than as an additional burden for our families. By making simple changes in the way we normally do what needs to be done, the school will be able to benefit.
Saint Kilian Parish School has identified a way of raising funds with little effort involved. The Scripts program is based on buying gift cards to be used at stores and restaurants our families frequent anyway. The school purchases the gift cards at a discounted rate, and then sells them to the families at face value. Therefore, there is no additional cost to the families. A $50 gift card costs $50. It is important to note that in addition to the Scripts program, other fundraising opportunities will be instituted in the future. This would include, but not be limited to, fundraising through the Parent Teacher Guild for educational components - classroom needs, professional education opportunities (e.g. NCEA Convention), etc. Participation from each family is essential and is very much appreciated.
