School Hours

	AM Preschool	8:45am - 11:15am

Late Arrivals
Having your student to school on time helps teach them to be on time too. Students are considered tardy after 8:40am.  If your student is late, please accompany your student to the office and sign them in.

• Provide a written Note to Teacher to the office including pick-up time
• Arrive in the school office at the pick-up time to sign your child out of school

Half Days
The following applies to half day schedules:

• School will begin at the normal time.
• School is dismissed at 12:30pm
• Extended Day will be offered

Absentee Policy

• Illness
  It seems that we are dealing with more and more issues in regards to health concerns for the children and are working on getting updated in how to deal with children who have asthma or other conditions. We are not medical professionals and perhaps the time will come when SKPS will be able to have a nurse for the whole day but right now, it is us every day and our nurse one day a week. And, if your child is sick in the morning, please do not send the child to school - a great deal of time is spent in trying to take care of the sick one only to hear that he/she told mom and/or dad in the morning that they were sick but were put on the bus anyway. We are not child care providers where we can take care of the children while they are sick - so please keep them home and more especially because of the H1N1 virus. It only takes one to infect the larger number and then we will have a great problem on our hands. This includes running noses, temperatures, coughing, vomiting, etc.
  • Please call the office between 8:30am and 9:00am for each morning your student is home sick OR click here to report your child's absence online.
  • A written note should be sent in the day your child returns to school (a pre-scripted Note to Teacher is available online). Notes must be turned in within 3 days of return to be considered an excused absence.
• Planned absences require a note sent in prior to the absence to be considered excused.
• Absences are either excused or unexcused. Excused absences include: illness, quarantine, impassable roads, recognized religious holidays, or other urgent reasons (a death in the family or a court appearance). State guidelines also permit an Excused Absence for Educational Trips if a request is sent to the school prior to the dates of the trip. If no prior notice is received, the absence is classified as unexcused.
• Students who are absent for more than thirty days during the academic year may be denied academic promotion. Parents and guardians of students who acquire excessive absences may be required to provide documentation from a physician indicating that the absences are relating to an existing medical condition.

Extended Care
Extended Care is available for students who need after school care when school is in session from 3:15-6:00pm. Please click here for details.

Inclement Weather Hours and Policy
Saint Kilian follows Seneca Valley School District for weather delays (click here to check their status). In the event that Saint Kilian Parish School needs to close independently of the district for reasons other than weather, please check for that information on the web site as well as on the TV stations.

SKPS delayed start schedule is as follows.

	AM Preschool	10:30am -12:00pm
	PM Preschool	1:00pm - 2:30pm
	Full day K-8	10:30am - 3:15pm *Morning arrival for any 2 hour delay is at 10:00 am.

If your public school district is closed/delayed but Saint Kilian Parish School is open:

• and your student rides the bus, you should use your best judgment regarding transporting your child to school.
• and your student normally rides by car, you should attempt to transport your student to school.
• and you are not able to provide transportation for your student, notify the office that your student will be absent for the day; their absence will be excused.

If Saint Kilian Parish School is delayed but your public school district is open:

• Do not put your child on the bus-no one will be in the Saint Kilian Parish School buildings until 10:00am.
• You will be responsible for your student's transportation.

SPECIAL NOTE: Because our attendance registers are legal indicators of a child's presence at the times we are in session, children who arrive late or are absent because of busing when school is in session will be marked as Excused Tardy or Excused Absence.
