Football was brought to life back in 2009 with young men joining the program from various Catholic schools in the northern part of the
diocese: Saint Kilian, Saint Gregory, Saint Alphonsus, Holy Sepulcher, and Saint Alexis. The Ironmen team was formed with these schools to bring football closer to the parishes and to fill a need for a new program in the North for the young men in the schools.
The Ironmen offer a developmental team 3rd and 4th grades; a Junior Varsity team 5th and 6th grades; and a Varsity squad 7th and 8th grades to compete in the Diocese of Pittsburgh football arena. In addition to football, a cheerleading program has taken a strong foothold with the team and young ladies from the above schools have banded together as a very strong unit to cheer the Ironmen on during the home games.
The football program begins practice in mid August and continues the season till early November. Practices during the season are typically T - W - Th and Saturday, with most games being played on Sunday afternoons at various schools. The North Pittsburgh Ironmen home stadium is North Allegheny High School for our home games.
