About Chess Club
The chess club offers students an opportunity to learn how to play, develop current skills and advance your experience through matches against other students and also through lessons.
Lessons are provided by Chess Master, John Surlow for a nominal fee. A beginner session is offered for a period of weeks, followed by an advanced session. Students may participate in any level of lessons or choose to participate in matches against other students. Both lessons and match play run simultaneously throughout the chess club session. Session I lessons will commence mid October.
In addition to our Friday meetings, we encourage the students to participate in chess tournaments. Tournaments are held in the Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. We have participated in the past and are very proud of our students’ success.
If you need further information, please contact one of the following leaders:
Adult volunteers who would like to help at the meetings are greatly appreciated, no experience is necessary. Thank you in advance for helping to make Chess Club a great experience for the students!
