Students riding the bus should complete and fill out the school bus tag and attach it to the top of their backpacks so the teachers can easily see it.

Students are eligible for bus services if they live more than a 1.5 mile radius from Saint Kilian Parish School or live along a route that has been declared "hazardous" by the Board of Education Transportation Division.

Busing services are supplied by the public school district in which you reside. Therefore, bus related questions are best directed to your respective school district’s busing office rather that Saint Kilian Parish School. Contact information for each district is as follows:

It is important that we know how your student will regularly get to and from school.  If there is any change in your student’s regular transportation, please:

  • Send a written Note to Teacher to the office indicating the change, i.e. different bus, pick-up instead of bus, ride with different parent/grandparent, etc.
  • Be aware that students may not switch buses due to some buses operating at capacity.  If a student is going home with a friend, private transportation is required.

Students are to:

  • Use quiet voices.  Loud talking, singing etc. may distract the driver, keep other students from hearing instructions, or prevent the driver from hearing signals from emergency vehicles.
  • Remain seated.  If the driver has assigned seats, the seat assignments are to be honored.
  • Do not put anything out the window of the bus (head, hands and feet included).
  • In vehicles where seat belts are available, use them properly.
  • Be courteous; do not use profane language.
  • Keep the bus clean.
  • Do not eat, drink, or chew gum on the bus.
  • Get off only at your assigned stop.
  • Cooperate with the driver.
  • Remember, the driver is in charge.  Any additional instructions from the driver are to be followed.

If there are behavior problems, the school district will send a report home to notify parents. If the problem persists, the district does have the right to ask that the student's bus privileges be suspended, either temporarily or permanently.  If the district recommends that a student be removed from the bus, the principal will support it and this will result in the student losing bus services.  The student/parent will then be responsible for alternate transportation.
